Amalia Suryani started her writing career when she was 12. Her first short story was published in a children magazine: Bobo. She was then active writing short stories for teenage magazine, newspaper, and some poetry in her blog.
In 2005, she first published a teenlit novel titled "Being 17." Her second and third novel followed.
In 2007, the latest novel "100 Jam" she wrote with a co-writer, Andryan Suhardi, won Adikarya IKAPI Award - as the best teenage novel. This novel was also translated to Malay in the following year.
